PROFILES OF ABIBIGROMAMA YOUTH FOUNDATION

Abibigromama is a Non governmental Organization {NGO} based in Elmina in the Komenda Eguafo Abrem District of the Central Region. The Foundation ?s aim is to empower, train and seek the welfare of the people in the District especially the youth.

Abibigromama Youth Foundation realizes that the future of the District and the country lies in the hands of the youth. There is, therefore, the need to educate, empower and organize the youth in all issues, which pose challenges to their well-being and all other people in general.

Since its inception, the AbibigromamaYouth Foundation has undertaken numerous educational activities ranging from health, youth empowerment to leadership.

The Foundation would be very glad, if we are given the go ahead to have the project feasibly done its success. Abibigromama Youth Foundation members are all social activists, who are willing and dedicated to show seek the utmost welfare of the people in the Komenda Eguafo Abrem District.

HISTORY OF THE GROUP

The Abibigromama Dance Ensemble was established in June 1994 in Accra the capital city of Ghana. It was consisted by three people namely Mr. Eric Takyi and, Mr. Isaac Allotey Ghana National Dance Champion 2002 who pooled out their time and resources to bring the group into reality.

In 1998, the group was having about 10 young people which were talented with music, singing, dancing, drumming, acrobat, comedy dance drummer on HIV/AIDS and a lots more. We started performing shows in Theaters, hotels, schools, organizations,AIDS campaing etc in both Ghana and some of the West African countries like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Mali etc. We have also attended so many competition which includes KIDDAFEST competition, Ghana - Japan Yosakoi competition. In it we were crowned the best group in 2002.

Today, we can boost of about 50 young people in the group who are being specialized in silt walking, music, singing, dancing, drumming, fire eating, acrobats, African magic etc.

Normally, we really offer rare and exciting shows with traditional dancers full costume.

Our mission is bringing unique energetic music, singing, drumming and dancing movements of West Africa to the whole world in a friendly manner.
